Having role models and idols and inspirations make the shaping of our goals easier, not necessarily the achievement of our goals. When you look up to others, you are either in the perpetual state of learning or the ceaseless stage of awe. The former is fruitful because you benefit. The latter gets jarring because others benefit more. In simpler words, the trick is to seek your motivation from within. Easier said than done.
But not impossible.
For example, the moment you wake up, if your first thought is going to be cynical—“this day sucks already!” or “it’s going to be a tough one ahead”, etc.—you are effectively clouding your vision. A better approach would be to fill your empty head with optimistic thoughts—“I am fine and I going to be better and this day is going to be great!” and see the magic happen.
Trust me, I can tell you from years and years of (skeptical) experience that being negative brings you no good. In fact, when your attitude is dismal, you become victim of your mind twice: once when you envisage a bad outcome and then again when the outcome is indeed bad. A better bet would be to believe in yourself. Give yourself a chance against your worst odds. It’s you and your journey. Others are just that. Others.
Good luck.
On that note, let’s dwell a bit on what is the sheer difference between you and others.
Nobody else can decide the taste of freedom for you.
Nobody else has all the answers.
Nobody else can save you from you.
Your beliefs are your problem and nobody else's.
Nobody else can teach us when exactly to shut the fuck up.
Nobody else holds the power to destroy you.
Be yourself. Nobody else wants to be you.
Nobody else should crack your masturbation joke for you.
Nobody else but humans believe in warranty.
That world inside your skull that nobody else can visit.
The advantage of living one's dreams is nobody else can wake you up.
Nobody else faces deadline like a florist does.
When you've got nobody else to look up to, look up to the sky.
