September of 2023 is in a hurry to end. Just last week, it was April. Funny how time speeds when we are getting older and becoming wiser (hopefully) and growing weaker (definitely). Nonetheless, the most important thing to maintain is our relationship with ourselves. If we are aware of what’s going on, we are bound to learn our lessons and do better with our time. All the mistakes from our past add veneer to our canvas. Without them, we’d be empty. There is no light without the dust.
We shine through our errors and redemptions.
That annoying sound a steel glass makes when you drop it by mistake. Despite all that commotion, its nature is to continue much longer than a glass made of, well, glass. Perhaps, that is the essence of our being. We, the wretched species of this planet, don’t give up, irrespective of all the noise and chaos we ensue.
It’s like waking up one morning with a sprained neck because you didn’t sleep in the right position, and with that crooked face in the mirror, you finally realizing that you are not perfect. You are infallible like the rest of us. I hope everyone should—sooner or later; preferably sooner—bump into this mighty wall called self-awareness. The more you become one with who you are, the better it is for everyone attached to us.
Emotionally or otherwise.
The animals aren’t pretending to be something that they aren’t, and neither are the birds. Even the non-sentient beings are exactly what they are. Only humans take pride in being oversmart.
Our pretence, however, isn’t helping anyone in any of these equations. If you look around, you can easily notice that there is too much fakeness. We text each other HAHAHAA without even cracking a smile. Which explains why we seek realness in the most unreal of entities: cinema, poetry, video games, alcohol, drugs, etc. If we truly want to step out of our cocoon and reach a stage where we aren’t be burdened anymore, maybe we must try to see things for what they are, not what they are supposed to be. Vipassana, anyone?
That might be a good place to start.
